Day 2: Port Blair – Ross Island and North Bay Island

You will be escorted to the Andaman Water Sports Complex, where a short ferry ride will take you to Ross Island. Once the administrative headquarters of the British, Ross Island is now a captivating historical site with remnants of the Chief Commissioner’s House, Government House, Church, Bakery, Press, Swimming Pool, and Cemetery. Stroll through the scenic pathways and enjoy the company of freely roaming deer, peacocks, and various exotic birds, making it a treat for both history buffs and nature enthusiasts. After exploring Ross Island, continue your journey by ferry to North Bay Island, famous for its vibrant coral reefs and rich marine life. Here, you can indulge in thrilling underwater experiences like glass-bottom boat rides, scuba diving, or sea walks (optional activities on a direct payment basis). Day 3: City Tour – Chidiya Tapu After Breakfast, visit the following places:
Begin your day in Port Blair by visiting the iconic Cellular Jail, also known as Kaala Paani. Built in 1906 by the British, this three-story structure once held 693 freedom fighters in solitary confinement under harsh conditions. Today, the jail stands as a solemn national memorial, honoring the sacrifices made during India’s struggle for independence. Continue your journey with a visit to the Samudrika Marine Museum, where you can explore over 350 species of marine life native to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. From colorful fish and rare clams to fascinating corals and a massive blue whale skeleton, the museum offers a deep dive into marine biodiversity and conservation efforts. (Open from 9 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM; closed on Mondays and national holidays.) Next, head to the Anthropological Museum, which offers a rare glimpse into the lives of indigenous tribes such as the Jarawas, Onges, and Sentinelese. This museum showcases their rich culture, traditions, and unique artifacts. (Open from 9 AM to 1 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM; closed on Mondays.) A short drive will take you to the Chatham Saw Mill, Asia’s oldest and still-operational sawmill. For a peaceful break, visit Jogger’s Park, nestled on a hilltop. This serene space offers panoramic views of the ocean, Ross Island, and North Bay Island, along with a unique vantage point to watch flights land and take off at the nearby airport. Next, make your way to Flag Point, a site of great historical significance. It was here that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose first hoisted the Indian tricolor on 30th December 1943. Today, a 150-feet tall flag mast marks this historic location, recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tribute to this defining moment in Indian history. In the late afternoon, journey to Chidiya Tapu, a picturesque destination about 40 km from Port Blair. Known for its spectacular sunsets, this beach is perfect for relaxation and birdwatching.
